Pann: The reason for Baekhyun's hardest time after debut is quite unexpected
Baekhyun: Hard times obviously existed. It was good to join the company as a trainee and debut early, but there were a lot of things that were not prepared. There was a time when being on stage was a fear for me.
I suddenly lost confidence in my singing skills. As I see that I was losing confidence in my primary weapon (singing), all of a sudden, I couldn't do anything with confidence. But I don't want to show my weak sides in front of people. I also practice by myself at dawn, every time I'm in car, I always sing and study vocalization. In my own way, behind the scenes, I think I tried many things to overcome my slump. Leader Suho Hyung knew a lot of similar situations, and I think other members also knew about it too, that I've been having such a hard time.
When I have a hard time, they come to me and tell me to like "Let's talk to the members and solve it together", "Let's go out to play together", and they make it fun for me. I think it’s really good luck that I got to meet our members. Everyone is like friends, like family.
Even when we meet after a long time, we joke like friends and we also talk about our worries. We can talk comfortably about future stories that young people looking at their 30s can share with each other.
(Interviewer: I think you are missing them now too.)
Of course. It would have been happier and more fun if I was with our members. Really.
Everyone is chasing such a big dream. They're still chasing it now. But that's why I think EXO was here now. If I turn back time, if you asked me how I would live, I'll say that I will live the same way.
(Yoo Jaesuk: Even if you live again, you still want to live as an idol?)
Yes. Yes. Like this.
Comments:
- Thanks to his gifted ability, he joined the debut group after 4 months as a trainee and debuted as an EXO's main vocalist 7 months later, but he was said to be the stage master and he was one of the best vocalists. Still, he kept training to develop himself, and since February last year, his vocalization has got stronger. That's why he is getting better and can't help but be more recognized.
- Baekhyun is talented, but he is really a hard worker because his singing greed and skill greed are huge.
- The mindset of successful people are really different.
- That's right. When they won first place, while other members were crying, he thought he had no right? to cry because his trainee period is too short compared to other members? because he thought like that, so he couldn't cry, which breaks my heart.
- I was surprised when I heard he said it wasn't that he didn't cry but he just held it back at the ceremony. He said he had no right to cry.
- There are still a lot of bullies who still picking on him, but compared to those external factors, he thinks that he was less prepared, and when he wasn't confident in his singing skills were the hardest time. He is amazing in many ways and I think he deserve to be a great example as a singer.
- Born-to-be idol with various meanings.... Not just because he sings well and performs well, but because you can feel that way in many parts.
- Wow, but 4 months as a trainee is the best ever. Even when they were at a situation where everything was decided, they looked at Baekhyun's possibility, and put him in hurry. I think I would put him in a hurry if I were an entertainment company too. The result tells it all.
- How can you hate someone who takes vocal lessons even now in his 9th year of career to show better performance instead of staying rich and popular currently? Even if Byun Baekhyun wasn't an idol but an ordinary person, he would have been loved if he lived having that kind of mindset.
- If you look at Baekhyun, there's 'that'. It's easy to become popular in a moment, but most of the time it's sinking fast. Baekhyun has been remaining (popular) for almost 10 years, but I think it all came from his efforts.
